Goodreader app store5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() For example, if you receive a Word document by email, you can store it in GoodReader, read it from there and then send it to Pages (assuming you've installed that app) for editing. Files stored in GoodReader can be sent via email, renamed, duplicated or opened in other applications. You can then send it through to your main computer using FTP or via your preferred cloud storage service. So, if you're browsing a developer's website and see an app you'd like for your desktop system, you can use GoodReader to download the app. However, with GoodReader, it will download any file providing it has the URL. ![]() Safari on the iPad limits the types of files that can be downloaded. While simple access using established filesharing protocols would be handy, it's not that hard to set up FTP and use that as a way of circumventing Apple's closed system. We used it to move files to an from a Mac, using its native FTP service, a NAS and a Windows machine running an FTP server and it worked beautifully. Unfortunately, it doesn't support SMB but it does offer FTP access. When it comes to local file access either from your PC, NAS or other network fileshare GoodReader does provide an option. So, even though it doesn't directly support Jungle Disk, for example, that service can be accessed. As well as the built-in service support GoodReader can access any WebDAV service. While this isn't data synchronisation, it does mean that you can store documents online, pull them down manually for reading or, if you've got an appropriate app, editing and then send them back up to the cloud. With many of us now committed to online storage systems, GoodReader also provide out of the box access to Box.net, Apple's iDisk and DropBox. GoodReader also lets you search through its repository. In our experience, that was much easier than needed to troll through email looking for attachments. That means that programs, like Mail, can send attachments to GoodReader for storage and easy access. Applications can now pass documents between each other using a set of APIs. The iPad OS introduced a new feature to Apple's touchscreen system. Click a few buttons and few minutes later, GoodReader is installed to your iPad. Either purchase GoodReader from the App Store icon on the iPad or go in through the iTunes store on your computer. Like all iPad applications, installation is dead simple. ![]()
